FabricPainting

Fabric painting is an art form that is believed to be as old as weaving itself - to have come into existence when humans first began weaving fibers together to form the first fabric.

The most common technique of this art form is using a paintbrush to apply paint on the fabric as one does on paper – making a wide variety of patterns, designs & prints! While any fabric can be painted, cotton and silk are the ones easiest to decorate. The two techniques of fabric painting are coloring and patterning – the former involves directly applying an image with color to the cloth, while the latter involves first printing or painting the patterns and then coloring them. You can create a variety of effects - opaque, translucent, shimmery, etc – and various degrees of complexity of design, such as – Line & Dot, Wet Shading, Dry Shading, Wet on Wet, Warli Art, Madhubani Art, Block Prints, Finger Prints, Brush Strokes to name a few.

The benefit of fabric painting is that it allows you to customize your artwork according to your choice, be it your wearable clothes such as T-shirts, dupattas, kurtas; accessories or décor.
